Have you ever noticed this?
Someone visits your home, they leave… and suddenly the space feels different.
Heavier. Tense. A bit off.
Or you go out to a restaurant, a shop, or someone else’s house that feels uncomfortable — and when you come home, that feeling comes with you. Everyone’s grumpy. You can’t settle. The vibe just isn’t right.
You didn’t imagine it.
Energy moves with us, and sometimes it lingers in the spaces we live in. The good news is, you don’t need anything dramatic or complicated to clear it.
One of the simplest ways I’ve found is using salt and herbs.
Why Salt Works
Salt has been used for centuries to absorb and neutralise stagnant energy. It’s grounding, cleansing, and incredibly effective — even if you don’t consider yourself “spiritual”.
Plain table salt is fine. Rock salt, sea salt, or Himalayan salt also work beautifully. What matters isn’t the type — it’s the intention behind using it.
Adding Herbs (Nothing Fancy Required)
You don’t need special supplies or hard-to-find ingredients. Kitchen herbs or garden herbs are perfect.
Some great options include:
Sage – helps clear stuck or stagnant energy
Rosemary – protective and refreshing
Lavender – calming and restoring harmony
Basil – clears negative energy and attracts abundance and ease
Thyme – strong protective energy, great for homes that feel tense
These herbs are known for helping shift heavy energy into something lighter and more balanced.
How to Make a Cleansing Salt Bowl
This is simple and doesn’t need to be complicated.
Take a small ceramic or glass bowl
Fill it halfway with salt
Add your chosen dried herbs
Gently mix them together
Before placing the bowl, pause for a moment. Hold it if you like, and set a quiet intention — something like:
“This home feels calm, safe, and peaceful.”
You don’t need to say it perfectly. Just mean it.
Where to Place the Bowls
Place small bowls in areas where energy tends to linger, such as:
Living rooms
Near the front door
Corners of rooms
Bedrooms (out of reach of pets or children)
You don’t need one in every room. Start with the main living areas and see how it feels.
How Long to Leave Them & What to Do After
The salt works quietly in the background, absorbing what no longer belongs in your space.
Replace the salt every few months, or sooner if it feels heavy or looks dirty.
When disposing of it, you can:
Tip it outside away from plants
Wash it down the drain with hot water
Or place it in the rubbish
Trust what feels right for you.
A Gentle Reminder
This isn’t about being “perfect” or doing things the right way.
It’s about noticing how your home feels — and giving it a little support when it needs it.
Your home should feel like a place you can exhale.
A place that holds you, not drains you.
Sometimes, the simplest things really do make the biggest difference
Until next time
